Welcome to Pukeiti

Renowned for its rhododendron collection, Pukeiti is a 360 ha rainforest property located between Mount Taranaki and the coast, just south of New Plymouth. Established in 1951, Pukeiti is an internationally recognised garden and plant collection.

Coming events

Sunday 5 February, 10.30am-2pm: Conservation walk and picnic. Meet at the Gatehouse at 10.30am for a guided walk through the conservation forest, past historic paintmines and the giant rimu (3.5 hours – moderate/hard). Bring a picnic, good walking boots, drinks and sunblock. This event is part of the NPDC Guided Walks programme

 

Himalayan lilies (Cardiocrinum giganteum) are flowering at Pukeiti. They grow up to 4m tall and only flower after seven years.

What the gardeners are up to

  • We're busy keeping on top of the weeds and doing some gentle pruning
  • We're enjoying watching the summer-flowering shrubs blooming, such as the lovely Deutzia 'Magician'.
