April rainfall at our monitored sites was between 20% and 83% of normal for the month. Rainfall was recorded on only five to 10 days, most of it on 11 and 12 April and from 27 to 30 April. Only 23.2mm was recorded at our Cape Egmont site — a fifth of its normal April rainfall. The Mount Taranaki sites recorded 38% and 56% of normal.
Commentary
Year-to-date rainfall is between 87% and 137% of normal, with Cape Egmont the driest after April's low total. Our monitored sites at Mount Taranaki are near or above normal, while the main town centres are between 110% and 123% of normal for the first four months of the calendar year.
