Out and about with Citylink

As well as being part of day-to-day life for a growing number of people, Citylink has also been on the scene at some special occasions in and around New Plymouth.

Rugby World Cup 2011

New Plymouth hosted three pool games in September 2011 as part of Rugby World Cup 2011. This involved extra Citylink services, special services to New Plymouth from throughout the region, and shuttle buses from the New Plymouth CBD to Stadium Taranaki (Yarrow Stadium). Patronage over the three games was estimated at 13,000. Here, fans take advantage of the shuttle service before the Ireland-USA match on 11 September.

Taranaki International Arts Festival 2011

A CityLink bus was the venue for a sell-out series of unusual performances during  the Taranaki International Arts Festival in August 2011. Java Dance Company entertained festival-goers on the bus and at selected venues during a 50-minute tour of New Plymouth. Performances ran for five nights, with two shows a night. The show was very well reviewed. Pictured are the dancers during a performance (photo courtesy of Taranaki Daily News), and artist Phil Jones showing off his special design for the bus used for the show.

Super Bus Boy

Is it a bird? Is it a bus? No, it's Super Bus Boy! More FM sent him riding the buses during campaigns in 2009 and 2010 to promote Citylink and put a bit of fun into passengers' mornings.
