In an emergency:
- Listen to the radio for Civil Defence messages on Radio NZ National, Newstalk ZB, Classic Hits, More FM or Radio Live. To tune in, see list of frequencies below.
- If life is in danger phone 111 for Police or Ambulance.
If you have to evacuate your home:
- Take your Getaway Kit
- Turn off water, electricity and gas
- Lock your house and garage
- Tell the Emergency Management office that you have evacuated
