Council structure

The Taranaki Regional Council is made up of 11 councillors, elected every three years by the Taranaki community. The next election will be October 2010. The Council and its various committees have a six-week meeting cycle.

The Council employs a permanent staff with wide-ranging professional, technical and administrative skills. The structure matches the Council's fields of activities. It is a flat compact structure with a high level of delegated authority.
