Removal of restricted coastal activities
With the release of the New Zealand Coastal Policy Statement 2010 (NZCPS), there is no longer a requirement to have any activity classified as a restricted coastal activity (RCA). Further, the NZCPS directs that regional councils amend regional coastal plans, without using the public submission process under the Resource Management Act 1991 (the Act), to give effect to this policy.
As of 18 March 2011, all references to RCAs have been removed from the Regional Coastal Plan for Taranaki in accordance with section 55 of the Act. As a result, any activity previously classified as a discretionary activity and a RCA is now a discretionary activity only. Similarly, any activity previously classified as a non-complying activity and an RCA is now a non-complying activity only.
