Climate Trends, Hazards and Extremes — Taranaki: Synthesis Report - published 2008

This report was prepared by the National Institute for Water and Atmospheric Research Ltd (NIWA) for the New Plymouth District Council, the Taranaki Regional Council and South Taranaki District Council. This synthesis report integrates the climate hazardscape across the Taranaki region for the current climate, and identifies climate trends, hazards and extremes that are likely to impact on the region as a result of climate warming during the 21st century.

Climate Hazards and Extremes — Taranaki: High Winds and Tornadoes - published 2007

This report was prepared by the National Institute for Water and Atmospheric Research Ltd (NIWA) for the New Plymouth District Council, the Taranaki Regional Council and South Taranaki District Council. It focuses on documentation of risks that high winds and tornadoes pose for the region, records events and impacts from these storms, and assesses how variability and change affect their risk. The scope of this study was extended to include the entire Taranaki region.
