The Taranaki Regional Council has 35 telemetered hydrological sites recording some or all of the following parameters:
- Water level/stage
- Flow
- Rainfall
- Water temperature
- Soil moisture and temperature
- Wind direction, speed and gust
The rainfall, wind and soil sites are updated half hourly, while water level sites are updated 2 hourly, except for those few sites that are solar powered, so only called in 3 times a day.
The predominant reasons for the rainfall and water level sites is for flood warning purposes, but are also used for consent monitoring purposes.
During the summer months (November-March), this website also shows water quality data from selected freshwater and coastal recreational sites. The data is based on sampling and is updated at least twice a fortnight.
