Teacher workshops

The Taranaki Regional Council is pleased to be able to offer the following opportunities for teachers to increase their skills in environmental education related fields.

Full details, including registration details, will be in the SITE newsletter at the beginning of the term prior to the course. You may wish to discuss the dates with your Principal/ Professional Development Manager and enter the dates in your diary now. Places for each course will be strictly limited.

 

2010 programme

Rocky Shore - session A

This session is suitable for primary and intermediate teachers
Where: Bayly Road Lighthouse, Rahotu
Why: To investigate the animal and plant life that exists in the rock pools
When: Wednesday 10 February, 4pm-6pm

Rocky Shore - session B

This session is suitable for primary and intermediate teachers
Where: Kawaroa Reef, New Plymouth
Why: To investigate the animal and plant life that exists in the rock pools
When: Thursday 11 February, 4pm-6pm

Water quality in the Kaupokonui Stream

This session is suitable for all teachers
Where: Dawson Falls and then Thoumine Park ( Kaponga)
Why: To compare water quality as we move down the catchment from the mountain
When: Thursday 6 May noon-4pm

Biodiversity in Taranaki

This session is suitable for all teachers
Where: Taranaki Regional Council, Stratford
Why: To understand what biodiversity is, why ours is unique and what the Council is doing to protect and enhance it
When: Thursday 5 August, 1.00pm - 4.00pm

The Patea River - its water quality and native fish and other Taranaki waterways

This session is suitable for all teachers
Where: Patea River at Stratford and the Taranaki Regional Council
Why: Investigate the water quality and view some of the native fish that live in the Patea River
When: Thursday 18 November, 1pm-4pm
