Marine Oil Spill Response, Okato, October 2007 - published 2009
A report on the Council's response to what was the largest ever crude oil spill in New Zealand and the third largest oil spill of any type in New Zealand in recent history. The oil affected nearly 14 kilometres of sand and rocks along the coast near Okato.

Recreational Use of Coast, Rivers and Lakes in Taranaki 2007-2008 - published 2008
A comprehensive report taking in the results of a postal survey and observation counts. The postal survey was conducted to ascertain recreational use of and access to Taranaki rivers, lakes and the coast. This provides an indication of the pressures on water resources and what influences where people choose to go and the recreational activities they engage in. The observation counts were undertaken at well known recreational locations to gauge the type and degree of use.

Inventory of coastal areas of local or regional significance in the Taranaki region - published 2004
This Inventory was compiled by the Taranaki Regional Council with assistance from New Plymouth District Council and Department of Conservation. It provides information on coastal areas of local or regional significance in the Taranaki region and information on public access to the coastal marine area. The Inventory identifies where subdivisions have occurred in the coastal area since 1999. The Inventory will facilitate statutory bodies in their decision-making on the management of public access and development in the coastal area.Hard copy: $25 + GST.

Kaimoana Survey Guidelines for Hapu and Iwi - published 2003
These guidelines provide hapu and iwi with information and a suggested process for undertaking a survey of kaimoana (seafood) resources. The guidelines were prepared by Otaraua Hapu in partnership with Shell Petroleum Mining Ltd and were published by the Ministry for the Environment. Also included here is further information about a North Taranaki kaimoana survey in 2000-2001, and downloadable template forms for those carrying out similar surveys.
