The CDEM Group Plan describes the roles and responsibilities of all the players in CDEM in Taranaki including local authorities, emergency services, lifeline utilities, government departments and organisations.

During an emergency the CDEM Group ensures that strategic advice and direction is provided to responding agencies, and that emergency welfare is delivered to the affected communities. The CDEM Group carries out its civil defence emergency management responsibilities under the CDEM Act 2002.

However, it's vital that the entire Taranaki community is prepared for when, not if, a major emergency occurs. At an individual level, we all need to know what to do in an emergency.

Every person and organisation in the region needs to be prepared today, to minimise the effects of any future emergency.

In that way, the regional response to and recovery from any type of emergency will be as fast and efficient as possible.
